A new kitty

Posted by Bobbi-lee - February 26th, 2007

Today Carl called me from work and told me that they found 3 kittens at work, they were about 2 weeks old. My immediate thought was Oh I want one, then he goes I know what you’re going to say, and yes you can have one.

If you didnt know already, Carl hates cats. He didn’t even want me to get Jasmine but fell in love with her. Now he’s fallen in love with a little kitten and he’s bringing it home today. Two other guys chose a kitten each too, and they bought a big pack of kitten formula to split between them.

The thought of this is quite funny. Three men looking after 3 little kitties at work. I can’t wait. He hasn’t told me what it looks like, or if its a male or female (I guess you can’t tell at that age anyway). He finishes work right now, so he should be here in about 15 minutes.

I’m so excited! I hope Jasmine likes this new cat and doesn’t get jealous. I’m going to upload pics later. Now I wonder what to call it. Carl hates nearly all the names I pick.

Edit: Wow he is so small, theres no way hes 2 weeks old, he is only about 4 days old. One of his eyes was still closed and he was squealing so loud. I fed him some formula and he seems much better now. I’ve only had him for 12 hours now, have to feed him every 2 hours and keep him really warm. I hope he survives, he’s so small he only has a small chance of making it. I read online how to care for newborn kitties without a mum, and I need to feed him every 2 hours day and night, as well as help it “go to the toilet”. After about a week he should double in size and then in 3 weeks it will be able to eat and go to the toilet unaided.

Jasmine is scared of him, for reasons I don’t understand..I mean shes 100 times bigger. But she’s scared and hissed at it before running away to hide. I think maybe she’s jealous, but I know she’s also worried. She used to hiss like that when she first met my dad’s dog, but then they got along fine after that she used to sleep next to him. Well i am going to be busy over the next week, and getting up every 2 hours to make sure he’s ok.We haven’t named it yet, we are 90% sure its a male, but you never know. Carl says he has a name but won’t tell me.

No pictures yet, but he is black and white and really tiny.

  1. Aww, I love kittens! =] yours sounds soo young still, I don’t think I’ve ever had one that young. It must be hard to care for it :\

Haha, once I introduced my cat to my mum’s little kitten and it was scared too, even though it was so much bigger. He kept hiding under the lounge chairs :P
Ta for the comment. Hopefully I’ll get over Dallas soon enough, coz I’ve liked him for a VERY long time (with minor crushes in between). :\

  2. Maybe she feels threatened because she’s afraid that the “no0b” will still your attention away from her? I’m not too sure. I’ve never really been a fan of cats. I think that they’re going to claw out my eyeballs or something.
