80’s Disco Style

Posted by Bobbi-lee - September 21st, 2007

Today I finished designing my birthday party invitations in illustrator. I took my time to do it as I am always so busy and never had a chance to sit down and do it, but now its out of the way and ready for print on Monday. I am having an 80’s theme party (because I love 80’s fashion, music, era-and because I was born in the 80’s) with fun costumes and great music. The invite features rubik’s cubes, pacman and space invaders-all games from the 80’s. I’m even going to have pacman cupcakes and a giant rubik’s cube cake.

For decorations I have ordered disco lights and mirror balls, and I am going to hang old records and CD’s from the patio beams (it’s an outside party) with fishing line, and put up huge 80’s singer’s posters. The party is going to be at my dad’s and he has a bar and entertainment area out the back, the area is so huge there’s room for a dance floor, all the tables and chairs and the bar. I was going to hire a jukebox, but my dad’s stereo system is really loud and all I need.

Although my birthday is on the 5th October (two weeks away :D ), my sister is due to have her baby that day and I will be back to my old hometown (where she lives) for the birth so I decided to push my party back 2 weeks.

I really hope everyone wears an 80’s costume or at least dress a little 80’s inspired. I am so excited I can’t wait.

  3. I love the 80’s idea! And it’s great that you have so much space. I remember birthday parties I used to have at my house and how crowded it all was — not much room to do anything. But yours looks like it’s going to be a blast. :D

Hahahaha. Post pictures of your party when it comes round. And your birthday is on the day I start university. Happy birthday for then although I’m sure I’ll speak to you before then.

  6. Emsz- BYO means Bring Your Own. It is a quite popular/well known term here, I’m not sure about other countries though.

No ALCOHOL! :) I’m a fan of sober-only parties, but I hope you have fun.

  12. You know, your birthday is literally a month (to the very day) before mine. Give me a little prod or a birthday blog so I remember yours please. :P
If I were an offline friend I’d want to be invited for the invitation. That’s one of the coolest I’ve seen!

  16. Wow, I really love your artwork. It’s extremely professional. you could be a professional clip art maker or something (though yours is better than clip art… so maybe just a computer artist?)
