Miss Jealousy

Posted by Bobbi-lee - April 14th, 2007

Today I was cleaning out Thom’s box that he lives in and I gave him some kitten biscuits. When Jasmine heard me pouring the biscuits she came running and stood beside her bowl meowing for me to give her some. I gave her some and continued to clean the box.

I cleaned his litter tray and put new litter in it. Jasmine stopped eating her biscuits and stood by her litter tray and meowed. She wanted me to clean hers (which I was going to do next anyway). So I cleaned hers and she promptly used it.

Later on I caught Jasmine leaning on the cat-scratch stand peering into Thom’s box. As soon as she saw me she ran and jumped inside an empty packing box we had (since we are moving). She sat in there for a while then went to sleep in it. Since Thomas has a box, she has to have one.

Then in the afternoon I gave Thomas a bath and then dried him with my hairdryer and gave him a comb. Jasmine jumped onto my computer desk and stood there expecting a brush. I combed her, which she would usually hate me doing, and purred the whole time. I even gave her a quick blow with the hairdryer and she didn’t even run away.

Tonight tops the cake. We were looking for Jasmine, when I found her crouched right up on the bedside table shelf where Thom likes to hide. She can’t even fit in there, yet here she was sitting in all huddled up.
Because it is “Thom’s shelf” she decided it was now her spot.

The things cat’s do.

Introducing Thomas

Finally I have some pictures. Here he is 5 weeks old, and double the size he was when I first got him.

Maternal Instincts

Posted by Bobbi-lee - March 11th, 2007

I am so in love with Jasmine right now. In a previous post I said she was scared and jealous of the new kitty. Today I let him out for a little walk, well it was more like wobbling, and he walked towards her. Usually at this point she would have ran away.

But today, she leant in to lick him, and not just a quick lick, but a full on grooming session. It was like her maternal instincts kicked in. She even layed down beside him and let him cling to her fur, whilst she cleaned him all over. She then fell asleep with her arms [paws] around him. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen, I went over to her and gave her a pat and told her she was a good mummy. She purred and loved the attention. If my camera was fixed I would have taken so many pictures.

I have named the forever-growing kitty, Thomas.
