Trying new things

Posted by Bobbi-lee - September 5th, 2008

I always thought I was open to the idea of trying new things, in fact I thought I was quite adventurist and willing to take risks. Maybe that is what I wanted myself to believe, because now that I think about it, I cannot even remember the last time I tried something new.

I will never try sky diving because I am too scared of heights and flying. I have never tried a Krispy Kreme, mostly because I hate donuts anyway. I have never read a single Harry Potter book, and whats more I have never watched a single HP movie. But those are things I haven’t tried becuase I have no desire to try them.

There are things I want to try. I want to go scuba diving, I want to learn to knit, I want to taste foods I have never tried. There are so many things in this world that I want to try but I have made no effort whatsoever. Every time the TV is on I hear the same annoying advertisement “wait til you try a Jesters pie” and I am still waiting to try one. I have even walked past Jesters many times but lame as it sounds I couldn’t justify paying $6 for one pie.

I’ve never been one to rush out and watch a new release movie the day it comes out, or line up for hours to buy that new techno gadget available. I have had the same mobile phone for 3 years, and the one I had before that I had for 4 years (whilst my sister went through approx. 10 phones in that time).

For the first time last week I tried cake with fruit in it. I have this weird idea that fruit should not be cooked and if it is, it is disgustingly gross (despite having never tried it). I made it myself using a blueberry cake recipe but replaced the blueberries with strawberries, and it was surprisingly really good, in fact it was the best cake I have ever made. I’m on a roll now, I want to try new things.

Introducing my little man

Sebastian Anthony Jon finally decided to enter the world, 8 days late, on 16th August at 23:23pm. He weighed 8lbs 8oz and measured 51cms long. The labour was a very long 20 hours and very stressful but the end result is totally worth it.

Another year

Posted by Bobbi-lee - July 26th, 2008

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been another whole year. Carl and I have been together for 6 years. It’s so amazing how fast time goes by, and soon we will have our own little family, it’s all really overwhelming.

Whenever I look at old couples in love, shopping together, I get happy just thinking how sweet they look and how I hope that’s how Carl and I look in another 30 years. I admire those relationships that stand the test of time and that are still so strong. Here’s to another year, and many more to come!
